Sphere within a Sphere Sculpture

Walking through the miles of corridors and galleries at the Vatican Museums, full of statues and paintings from hundreds of years ago, you can see why this sculpture caught my eye. It is made of bronze by Italian sculptor Arndalo Pomodoro. The inner sphere represents the Earth and the outer ball represents Christianity. Both spheres can turn independently of each other, although this was taken through an open window and I didn’t get a chance to go back for a closer look.
