Just outside Dubai Mall and in front of the world’s tallest building is this Arabian style footbridge. I have previously published a photograph looking down on the bridge from the Burj Kalifa observation deck as well as a close up taken at night. The above photograph was taken on the edge of the lake with the Souk Al Bahar mall. Being in the heart of Downtown Dubai there are dozens of huge skyscrapers around this location, from this angle I could avoid having any in the background which would have distracted from the bridge.
Sheikh Zayed Road Dubai
This is the view from the south end of the World Trade Centre Station of the Dubai Metro. To the left in this photograph you can see the tracks of this driverless, full automated rail network. The dark area top left is part of the station building I was standing in. Prospective is strange from this view point as the buildings in the distance seem much smaller but they are in fact much larger than the closer ones, they are just a few miles away.
Dubai Skyscrapers
Looking south west across the Burj Khalifa Lake are dozens of new residential skyscraper developments. Stood in front of the Dubai Mall with the world’s tallest building off camera to the right this seemed like a massive collection of tall buildings. Having seen many incredible photographs of the city from local photographers, I believe the view from the top of some of these would be amazing.
Jumeirah Lake Towers
The only way to wonder around Dubai in August is very late at night. Even then temperatures rarely drop below 30 degrees C! This photograph took two visits before I could capture it. My first attempt was stopped by a security guard on a segway saying that photography wasn’t allowed, before I even got my tripod up. The reflection of the modern buildings on this perfectly calm, artificial lake was so perfect that I had to come back. The next night I came back with all the gear setup, walked up and quickly took this photograph.
