Boston Stump and River Haven

Boston Stump and River Haven

Here we see The Haven, a tidal river in the Port of Boston in Lincolnshire on the east side of England. I have only visited Boston a couple of times, but from what I can see this is probably low tide judging by the height of the water. In the background behind the white building and the bridge we can see the Boston Stump, the large tower of St Botolph’s Church.

Abandoned Shop Front

Abandoned Shop Front

This abandoned Everyday Essentials shop was found in the town of Boston, Lincolnshire. The pealing paint of the sign, the empty greeting card stand in the shop window and the dark alley all made this shop seem very moody. The black and white processing in Lightroom helped me to add drama to the scene. It seems as if this shop has an interesting story to tell us, but we can only imagine what happened and how it came to be in this state.

Door of St Botolph’s Church, Boston

Door of St Botolph's Church, Boston

This is the main doorway of St. Botolph’s Church in Boston, Lincolnshire (in England not America). It is famous for its very tall tower, known as the Boston Stump. This church was begun in 1309 and the ornate details around this old door really caught my eye. I have never been inside the church, but maybe next time I find myself in Boston I will explore inside with my camera.

Fire Close Up Pattern

Fire Close Up Pattern

Fires fascinate me, the colour, warmth and movement that these flames create makes for a pattern worthy of recording. The above fire was a bonfire at my uncle’s farm down in Lincolnshire. Although this was taken at night it was shot hand held as there was enough light coming from the fire to make using a tripod a waste of time. Next time I have such an opportunity hopefully I can play with some darkening filters over my lens to use longer exposures and experiment a little more.
