Taken from the Town Bridge looking towards the town’s old buildings. In the foreground is the River Avon. Due to the lovely weather that day there is a great reflection of the sky and clouds on the water. Bradford on Avon is a town in Wiltshire, England. Many of the buildings you can see here date back to the 17th century, when they had a thriving woolen textile industry here.
Castle Comb Village
The centre of Castle Comb is very picturesque. In the centre of this photograph you can see people enjoying a drink at the Castle Inn Hotel and to the right the 14th century Market Cross. Just off camera to the left is an old church which is also well worth seeing. Before my aunt and uncle told me to go here, I had only heard of the near by race track. This was taken only about five months ago, looking back on this photograph it seems like a different world.
Stonehenge
Outside of London, Stonehenge is probably England’s most popular tourist attraction. That said there are certainly better stone circles in much nicer parts of the country. They might be a little smaller and not as old. Still this is my second photograph of Stonehenge that I wanted to share taken from a slightly different angle. It makes me wonder how it would look at dusk on a nice winters evening.
Come in we’re open
Small gift shops (especially in the English countryside) can be very photogenic in the right conditions. I thought the owner was going to tell me off when I bent down to get a close up of the side on the door. In the end she just gave me a strange look (probably didn’t help that I didn’t go inside). This was seen just next to the Tithe Barn in Bradford-on-Avon. I felt that the combination of candle holders, distressed looking sign and old barn door made for a good textured photograph.
