Marina Bay Sands

Marina Bay Sands

Stood in front of The Fullerton Bay Hotel, looking across Marina Bay to this huge resort. Developed by a Las Vegas based company, it is billed as the world’s most expensive standalone casino. Within the three towers is over 2500 hotel rooms and surround buildings house a shopping mall and dozens of restaurants. Probably the most unusual feature of this ultra modern building is the SkyPark on the top of the three towers which holds a 146 long swimming pool.

The Marina Bay is where I spent almost all of my few days in Singapore last year. With the huge office buildings on one side, and the new Marina Bay Sands resort on the other it is full of interesting architecture. Next to the ECP motorway and the Bayfront Bridge is this stunning foot bridge. It opened in 2010 and is 280 metres long. In the background is the huge towers of Marina Bay Sands.

Opening in 2011, Marina Bay Sands is in my opinion one of the highlights of Singapore. In the foreground is the Marina Bay itself. This was taken from Merlion Park near the central business district. Looking across the water the three curved roofs lit up in blue are the shopping mall part of the resort. The three towers contain over 2500 hotel rooms. On the roof is the incredible SkyPark with outdoor swimming pool. To give an idea of scale, the platform on the top left, overhangs the north tower by 67 metres. Below are some more photographs from various angles.

Harbour from Singapore Flyer

Taken from the Singapore Flyer, and at 165 metre high, this is the tallest Ferris wheel in the world. It offers stunning views over Singapore, particularly of Marina Bay. In the foreground you can see the Bayfront Bridge carrying the ECP motorway. On the far left is the huge Marina Bay Sands Hotel with the attached shopping mall in front. On the other side of the Marina is Raffles Place, surrounded by skyscrapers in the central business district.
