Heading back down from Snowdon’s Summit. This was the landscape we had walked up through and were about to walk back down. Glaslyn (Welsh for Blue Lake) is in the middle of the image. The much larger lake in the background in Llyn Llydaw (from the Welsh meaning Brittany lake). In framing this photograph I was keen to include the path we were walking along. Coming into left side of the picture is the Pyg Track which continues all the way to the other side of Llyn Llydaw. You can see the Miners Track which breaks off and goes right down to the lake side of both of these natural lakes.
Red door at Beaumaris Sea Front
Walking around the small Welsh town of Beaumaris was fantastic. There’s charming cottages, buildings and back streets. There’s even the large Beaumaris Castle. This bridge red door caught my eye and I couldn’t walk past it without taking a picture. I’m not sure what the couple behind the right side window thought or if they even noticed me. I didn’t see them until I edited the photograph once I got back home.
South Stack Lighthouse
Off the north west coast of Wales is the island of Anglesey. Off the coast of Anglesey is the much smaller Holy Island. At the far north western point you’ll see this landscape. The South Stack Lighthouse is one of my favourite in Wales, if not the whole of the UK. Built in 1809 you can see why ships needed warning of the dangerous rocks below. This was the second or third time visiting south stack. You can walk right down to the lighthouse but I haven’t done this yet. I’d be good to know if the inside is open and if they let people go to the top of the light.
Lake Bala Wales
Llyntegid or in English, Lake Bala is the largest natural body of water in Wales and is about 4 miles long by a mile wide. The river Dee runs into it and through it. The town of Bala is at the northern end of the lake shore, where this photograph was taken outside of the Bala adventure water sports centre and tourist information. From here we are looking south. The tiny white dots on the horizon a sails from boats. It was the start of summer when this was taken and there were a few people swimming in the lake. I’ve been here a number of times but this was the first visit on a sunny day with blue sky. This lake and area has a lot of sentimental value to myself and my family.
