Also known as the Petronas Twin Towers these twin skyscrapers are the tallest twin buildings in the world. This photograph was taken from the centre of the KLCC Park looking between the trees. It was my first day in the Malaysian capital and I was wondering around the park looking for go angles on the building to retake at twilight. Surprisingly, this view didn’t make the shortlist. In fact, it was completely skipped on my first review of my Kuala Lumpur photographs.
Thean Hou Temple
The Thean Hou Temple is a famous six tiered Chinese temple in Kuala Lumpur. High on a hill overlooking the city it came to my attention whilst researching interesting views of the city skyline. However, the temple itself was far more spectacular than I could have imagined. It was a little walk from the nearest mono rail station but well worth the effort. Views such as the one above taken from in front of the main entrance of the temple, distracted me so much I nearly forgot to turn the camera back towards the city centre.
Whale Statue at KLCC Park
Kuala Lumpur City Centre is dominated by the famous office development of the Petronas Twin Towers, the world’s tallest building from ’98 to 2004. In front of these 88 floor skyscrapers is the KLCC Park. Designed to provide greenery in the city centre it features a mosque, jogged track, a large lake with water fountains and various waterfalls, statues and reflecting pools. My favourite statues are the two small dolphins and huge whale pictured above. I walked around this pool a couple of times to find a good angle for a photograph. Although the bright blue of the children’s paddling pool is a little distracting, I think the curve of the whales reflection makes this angle the best.
Chinese Dragon on Temple
The Thean Hou Temple made me long to visit China. It was high on a hill in Kuala Lumpur but well worth the effort to get up there. Although small inside, it was the exterior of the temple that I found most interesting. The details and colours kept me eyes and camera occupied for a good few hours. Just wondering around the outside looking for new, unseen details.
