Every so often if you take enough photographs you find one that you would like to print out large and stick on your wall. This is that photograph for me. When I say photograph, the image above is a cropped down section of a panoramic composition of over a dozen digital files. In this particular section there is three or four photographs. The large sky scrapper to the far left is the Beetham Tower (or Hilton Hotel). The chimney is from the Macintosh Mills (now converted into apartments. You can see the roof of the G-Mex exhibition centre and Bridgewater Hall. To the right you can just see the top of the Town Hall over more apartment blocks. The full image extends past the Palace Theatre to the Palace Hotel and beyond (to the right). Taken through the dirty glass of a sixth floor window without using a tripod this picture took me three attempts and over eight hours work in Photoshop. But I think it is worth it.
Salford Quays waterfront
The photograph above was taken from in front of office buildings at Salford Quays. To the left is the Manchester Ship Canal. I took this photo on the Friday the 2nd of this month. Ciaran and I decided to take advantage of the fine weather and walk from my flat near Oxford Road along the ship canal towards Salford Quays. I really want to get a sunset photograph from this spot I think that it would look fantastic, given the right sky.
River Seine from the Eiffel Tower
The last photograph of Paris for a while but how could I publish a set of images from such a famous city without showing you a picture taken from the top of the Eiffel Tower. It is very interesting to me how the light worked, the clouds were really low and dark but for some reason the buildings have sunlight on them, I only wish this picture had been captured on digital RAW format as I would have been able to perfectly expose and correct the light in all the buildings. Still I find it an interesting photograph of the city.
Sunset from G-MEX Metrolink Station
Travelling back to Altrincham to see my parents, and go to the Photographic Club I saw this very beautiful and interesting sunset. I was waiting for the Metrolink Tram at G-MEX “Station”. Due to its location it has a nice view towards the south of Manchester (away from the city centre). I am not sure what the silhouetted buildings are called but I still think this is a nice photograph, I hope you enjoy looking at it as much as I did taking it.
