Sardinian Nature Reserve, Italy

I was invited to take photographs of the wild Flamingos which live on the nature reserve just a few miles west of the capital of Sardinia, Cagliari. It was another one of those subjects that is very difficult to capture without a long lens on my camera. But, it was a beautiful day as you can see in the above photograph of the nature reserve. If you click the photo to enlarge it, you might be able to make out the birds wading in the distance. Fortunately I was able to borrow a spotting scope and tripod in order to study the animals in close detail. When these great flamingos take to the sky they have fantastic, bright pink under their wings.
