Planes at Terminal 2, Manchester Airport

Perspective is an interesting thing. I had a fantastic art teacher at school who taught me all about perspective in great detail. For example, in the above picture the four planes we can see at the Terminal 2 building are all the same size but due to the perspective of the image, the plane in the foreground looks massive comparatively. To take this photograph I was stood on the roof of the terminal 1 car park. It has about 8 storeys and if you drive or get the lift to the top there are fantastic views looking down on the airport. Many plane spotters watch planes landing from the other side of this roof, although if you’re planning to go to take pictures, you will need a massive telephoto lens, as the individual planes on the runway are really far away from this point.
