Driving up the west coast of New Zealand on a two week road trip, I had my eyes open for subjects to photograph. Sadly, for two or three days, there was a large thunderstorm. As you can see, for the most part I am a fair weather photographer. That said, the Westland National Park area is a large rainforest and in many ways there is no better weather to see a rainforest in. In the above photograph, the yellow sign really stands out well from the road and forest background, which is after all what it is designed for. Sadly, I didn’t see any Kiwi birds on the road. This is probably due to them being nocturnal and endangered.
