This small black bird was wading along the edge of a lock on the canal in Chester. The majority of the water was frozen but obviously not here. I watched the little fella for a couple of minutes stood on a bridge looking down. I have no idea what type of bird this is but I have asked around and hopefully can update this post when I have more details. This picture was taken with a 200mm lens and although it was an overcast day, I think that helped make the fall of the water at the bottom of the frame more detailed.
I had a fairly large one of these in my garden for a couple of hours today, nibbling at grass and eating seeds and suet I had put out for other birds. I have no idea what he is either 🙂
