Osteospermum ‘Pink Edge’ Flower at Threave Gardens

Osteospermum 'Pink Edge' Flower at Threave Gardens

After staying the night just outside of Dumfries, we set out this morning for Threave Gardens. I had never heard of it before now, but I knew it would be interesting for flower photography. I was really surprised at the colours and numbers of flower out at the moment. The weather wasn’t perfect for flower photography and I don’t have a macro or close up lens for my camera. I want to put more flower and planet pictures on the site in the future, as it is a type of photography that I haven’t explored much. The above image is the flower head of an Osteospermum. I know very little about planets and searching the internet found almost no information about this flower. If you have any information please comment below. I really love the shape and colour, so thought it would be worth sharing.

Bouquet of Orange Arum Lily Flowers

Bouquet of Orange Arum Lily Flowers

Orange is a fantastic colour, and when I see orange flowers they attract me to them due to their originality. I always see pinks, yellows and reds in flower arrangements but rarely a nice bright orange. This bouquet of orange coloured arum lilies were brought back from a wedding by my great aunt. She suggested I took a photograph of them and I have been meaning to put it online for a few months. Digging through my achieves I found it and thought I would share it with you. They really were this orange colour with the strong green coloured leaves.

Bee on Crocus Flowers

Bee on Crocus Flowers

Whilst walking around Abney Hall’s beautiful Nature Reserve I found a small patch of Crocus flowers under a tree near the house. Its very pretty to see the flowers carpeting the grass, having not taken many close up flower shots with the new camera I was keen to see how my lens functioned on close up situations like this one. I’m reasonably pleased with the photograph above,
as I only spent a minute or two at most taking shoots of these flowers. Given more time I would like to have got lower and closer to really test out my patience, equipment and skill. Still, its a nice grab shot and the bee helps. I’m not too sure if I should have cropped in closer to remove the flowers at the bottom of the frame.

Queen Elizabeth Rose Flower

Queen Elizabeth Rose Flower

Whilst browsing through today’s flower photographs which I took this afternoon at the Queen Mother’s Memorial Garden I came across this close up image I took of a rose flower. Rose’s have always been my favourite flower but this example is stunning in both look and smell. I am glad I got a sharp photo of this and thought I had to share it with you.
