Super Moon 2011

Yesterday I was driving home from work and enjoying the fact that it wasn’t dark yet. It was a Friday and we were going over to a friend’s for a meal. Whilst sat at the traffic lights I noticed the moon looked massive, it was low and large in the sky. A couple of minutes later Radio 4 news informed me that this weekend was a chance to see the moon on its closest approach to Earth. As soon as I got home from work I looked at the weather and tonight was going to be the best night. So on my drive over to my friends I stopped off at Sale Water Park, mainly to scout out a location for a future night photograph, but I also captured the above photograph of the “Supermoon” with the tree tops in the foreground to add some interest in the lower area of the frame.
