Aberdaron Village, North Wales Coast

Aberdaron Village, North Wales Coast

Aberdaron is a wonderfully picturesque village on the western tip of the Llyn Peninsula in North West Wales. On the day this was taken there wasn’t any great sunlight, which makes the place look not worth visiting, but trust me it is. I have been two or three times at least in all different weather conditions. If you go on a nice sunny day it will be very popular and the grass area in the foreground (which is the village car park) will be full of cars.

Snowdonia National Park Wales

Snowdonia National Park Wales

Snowdonia National Park in North Wales is one of two national parks within a short drive of my home town that I would like to spend more time photographing. So far I have driven through it half a dozen times and earlier this year I walked up Snowdon (the highest mountain in Wales), but with an area of 838 square miles and dozens of other spectacular mountains and lakes I know that there are more landscapes that my camera is crying out to capture.

This wider angle view of the Snowdon Mountain Railway again features the Clogwyn Station, but here you can more clearly see the peak of Llechog on the left side of the frame. Behind the train you can just make out the A4086 road, otherwise known as the Pass of Llanberis.

In the foreground is the steam train of the Snowdon Mountain Railway. In the middle ground is Clogwyn Station and in the background are Llyn Padarn and the town of Llanberis. This railway line, which is just under 5 miles in length, has a single track with passing loops. It has been in operation since 1896 and is a rack and pinion mountain railway.
