Fiddlers Ferry Power Station is a large coal fired power station in Widnes. Here I photographed it at night from across the River Mersey at Runcorn. When I made this photograph it was almost pitch black, but I knew that the night sky was cloudless, so there was a chance that I could capture some details. The long exposure caused the steam coming from the huge (114 metre / 374 feet tall) cooling towers to blur nicely. Obviously a power station of this size is an extremely prominent landmark.
