Whitby Harbour

Staying in Whitby for a week and driving up and down the coast every day, I drove on the A171 bridge over the mouth of the River Esk probably half a dozen times at least. Each time I looked towards the town centre thinking I must stop to capture that vista. Well late one afternoon I made the effort to park the car on the east side of the bridge (down a side street) and walk back to the bridge. I was pleased that the sun was in the right place and from this angle we get a nice view of the harbour in the foreground with Whitby Abbey and St. Mary’s Church on the hill above the town centre.
