This is the oldest of several white horses that are carved into the hillsides of Wiltshire. Historians aren’t certain just how old the horse is, but we do know that it was restored in 1778 and it located on the edge of Bratton Downs, lying just below an Iron Age hill fort. I drove around the surrounding countryside trying to find go viewpoints, not too close but not too far away. In the end I was able to park at Heywood, just off the B3098 and capture the above photograph.
