The Crown Range Road offers a great short cut between Queenstown and Wanaka. Not only that it is a spectacular drive through Cardrona. At one point on the road I pulled in the car at one of the many scenic lookout points. This photograph shows the landscape looking south west back down the Wakatipu Basin. Sadly, this doesn’t show the valley in it’s best conditions. This was taken towards the end of a hot, dry summer. Earlier in the summer (around Christmas) all the yellow grass was bright green.
