View over Edinburgh from Salisbury Crags

The Salisbury Crags are a series of 150 foot cliffs in Holyrood Park. You can see the path sloping down towards the Palace of Holyroodhouse. I felt that it was important not to cut out the path on the right as it gives you an idea of scale and where I was stood. The modern buildings with grass roofs to the left of Holyroodhouse are part of the Scottish Parliament. Closer to the main road behind the trees is the Scottish science centre called Our Dynamic Earth. In the far distance you can also see the estuary or firth of Scotland’s River Forth (more commonly referred to as the Firth of Forth). This picture was taken nearly two years ago, and when I revisited last summer, the day we walked up to the Salisbury Crags was a little overcast.
