Tree over Auckland

Mount Eden is one of the highest points in Auckland, especially so close to the central business district. As you can see it offers a great view of the skyline. I have been up here many times in the day and night but last weekend I revisited at dusk with a few different photographs in mind. Arriving before the sunset I was hoping to get the last of the day’s sun lighting up the left side of this tree. Sadly, for about half an hour a group of tourists stood posing for photos in front of it, despite me clearly waiting behind their photographer to take my shot. After the sun had gone I returned back to this location with my tripod and captured the above photograph. To light up the tree I used a continuous light system that is more designed for video but still worked well in this low light situation.
