Metrolink at Saint Peter’s Square, Manchester

Metrolink at Saint Peter's Square, Manchester

This is the third photograph from last Wednesday’s walk and probably my favourite of the day. There is something about moving vehicle that makes me want to take their picture; trains, boats, planes, trams – it just interests me. I ride the Metrolink tram most weeks from Manchester to Altrincham and find although it is expensive and sometimes crowded the service is reliable and a great asset for the city. St. Peter’s Square is my local Metrolink tram stop, in the background (behind the tram) you can see Central Library. Oxford Road runs to the right of where I was standing and the Midland Hotel is just next to me on the left. I think the reason this photograph appeals to me is the modern style of the tram against the traditional architecture of the buildings behind. On a side note, Happy Easter everybody, enjoy the chocolate.

Had a great night last night at one of my friends houses, although I didn’t drink as much as I thought I would so this morning I was in the mood for a photo walk around Altrincham. Since moving into the centre of Manchester I miss the around of South Manchester that I used to walk through on a daily basis, things in my home town are changing all the time and a lot of money is being spent on building around the town. This photo shows the back of the newly completed Altrincham Cinema complex (silver building to the left) and new apartment buildings (to the right). Luckily a train was passing at the time of capture which adds interest although it was raining at the time that I took this photograph.

Virgin Train Engine leaving Crewe Station

Virgin Train Engine leaving Crewe Station

This morning I took the train from Wilmslow to Crewe to visit my grandparents again. I am only staying one night this time but whilst sat on the train I was admiring the weather and wishing I could be outside taking photos, so I thought I might as well get my camera out and see what comes along. I took a few countryside landscapes but I thought I would share this photo of a Virgin train engine leaving Crewe station. Its a little boring but I thought it was a good enough image seeing as I took it from a moving vehicle.
