New Wakefield Street in Manchester is just around the corner from where I used to live. Every year the professional and always very colourful graffiti gets changed, so this year I was pleased to find myself back in my old neighbourhood with its fresh new paint job. Here we see “The Make Up Club” of characters. I am not sure which street artist created this piece, but I am sure that I like it a lot. In fact in my opinion it is one of the better artworks that I have seen in Manchester.
Love will tear us apart graffiti
I came across this graffiti on a shop’s shutter in Tib Street in the Northern Quarter of Manchester and although I wasn’t sure what batman was doing, I did like the saying “Love will tear us apart”. Looking up Trafford Parsons shows he’s a local artist who takes inspiration from popular culture, particularly from the 1970s icons such as Storm Troopers or Sci-Fi monsters!
Graffiti Park Barcelona
Until recently I had no idea what this small park near the harbour in Barcelona was called, just that it was a short walk from the end of La Rambla. These are the Jardins de Walter Benjamin and as you can see from the photograph above they feature a long wall of graffiti. What I liked is that the street art in this park wasn’t frowned upon. In some sections the wall had been divided up into panels and there was a group of young men happily painting away at the other end.
Geek Mouse Graffiti
I can’t work out what this graffiti says. I know that the first letter is D and that there is a large mouse faced man with glasses looking a bit of a geek (hence my title). To me it doesn’t matter what it says, it really caught my eye as I wandered down this huge wall of graffiti or street art. If anyone has any information on what this says or who this character is I would love to read about it in the comments below. Could this possibly be a Spanish cartoon character that I don’t know about? This was taken in Barcelona back in 2008.
