Swaledale Valley, Yorkshire Dales

This was one of the first views that greeted me as I stepped out of the car and into the unspoilt and picturesque landscapes of the Yorkshire Dales. To me the Yorkshire Dales are like the Lake District without the people or the lakes, and that does ring true with the above photograph. I could have told you it was taken in the Lake District and you would have probably believed me, but it isn’t. This is at the far west side of the Swaledale Valley looking northwards, down into the valley from the main road. It isn’t the best photograph I have of this valley, but I liked the little building at the bottom by the river and the way all the stone walls seem to snake around and interact with each other.
