Just across the highway from Lake Hayes is the easily missed Stoneridge Estate. Driving up from Arrowtown back towards Queenstown I drove right past it before turning back for a look around. After a short walk around the wonderful gardens and vineyards on the estate (which is mainly used as a wedding venue) I went for a wine tasting. They only produce three wines, red, white and rose which are nearly all consumed by the guests. I asked about the roses at the ends of the vines. They are there to warn of any diseases that could effect the vines. The roses would catch the disease before the vine and therefore make it quicker and easier to spot and deal with any problems in the crop.
