Skyscape over Arthur’s Seat, Edinburgh

Arthur’s Seat is the tallest hill you can see in the photograph above, to the right is the much lower Salisbury Crags. This area of Edinburgh is Holyrood Park, associated with the royal palace of Holyroodhouse, although it is now publicly accessible. You can see the palace at the bottom left hand corner of this image. I love the sky on this photograph and think the composition works really well, giving an interesting balance between the blue of the sky and the green of the park. After looking at it for a long time I began to think that it may have needed more foreground, but the area below the frame of this image didn’t have as much interesting and picturesque details in it. This photograph was taken from Calton Hill, you can see a photograph taken from the Salisbury Crags looking in the other direction towards Calton Hill below.
