There are two cable cars in New Zealand. One in Queenstown in the South Island, which I have been on quite a few times now. And this one in middle of the North Island at Rotorua. The view from the top of Mount Ngongotaha is great. Behind this empty gondola is the huge Lake Rotorua with Mokoia Island in the centre. On the day this photograph was taken (my birthday) it had been raining for most of the day. As I drove along the highway past the Skyline entrance it seemed to clear up.
