Saint Fin Barre’s Cathedral

This is the west facade or front view of Saint Fin Barre’s Cathedral. On an evening walk around the city I knew I needed to capture this cathedral. It stands out in the city skyline as it is up a slight hill. As is often the way for me, I didn’t get a chance to visit during the day so wasn’t able to go inside. The outside had so much detail I could have walked around and stared at it through my lens for hours. Poking my camera through the locked iron gates this was the view looking up. I like the way the green leaves of the nearby trees frame the three huge towers. Saint Fin Barre’s was completed in 1879 in the style of Gothic Revival designed by architect William Burges.
