This is the River Rothay which offers a lovely short walk (less than a mile) between Rydal Water and Grassmere. On the right of the frame is Penny Rock Wood. On the left is the footpath leading to the mere. If you ever find yourself in this area of the Lake District on a sunny day it is a nice way to see two lakes and is convenient for parking and driving.
