Rialto Bridge, Venice

One of the most famous sights and certainly the most famous bridge in Venice is the Rialto Bridge over the Grand Canal. It was completed in 1591 but there has been a dry crossing of the canal here since 1181. It is sad to see the graffiti on the bridge but I am pleased to have captured a gondola coming towards the camera.

I took this photograph back in April 2004 (four years ago – seems much longer) using my dads Canon EOS 300D camera. Recently I have been going through my first attempts with a digital camera in an effort to update the blog pre July 2005.
