Replica Van de Graaff Generator detail

A Van de Graaff generator is an electrostatic generator and was invented in 1929 by American physicist Robert J. Van de Graaff. Above is a detail of a replica on display in the Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI) here in Manchester. Obviously it wasn’t working but it was interesting to see the lines and shapes of this massive generator. I felt the tubing at the top particularly lent itself to a black and white photograph.
