Yesterday was my grandfather’s 80th Birthday, so we had a big family get together at my grandparents house. They have always had a nice garden and when I saw this bed of tulip and pansy flowers I knew it had to be photographed. Unfortunately without a macro (close-up) lens it wasn’t going to be perfectly sharp. It was also a little windy, but the sun was out, giving the flowers good strong light behind them. My grandmother couldn’t remember what variety the red and yellow tulip flowers were at the front of this picture, but the pointy yellow flower is very unusual and known as the “wet paint tulip”. The blue flowers at the bottom of this photograph are blue pansies. This summer I hope to do more flower photographs as the colours and framing of the subject is something I need to work on in my opinion.
