Purple Flower in the Rain

I want to give you a tip on photographing flowers that isn’t going to cost you a thing. And you know what it is like, having spent quite a bit of your hard earned cash on a new digital camera only to look outside and see dark clouds, humid temperatures and steady rain, its summer! I know how you feel, but this is perfect flower photography weather. Unlike landscapes you don’t need dramatic lighting, you don’t need to get up at dawn for the first light of day. When the flowers are out and it is raining is the best time for close up flora photography. It was raining when I took the above photo and it worked to my advantage. Not only do the droplets of water add an extra dimension, but the light is very even and defused. If anyone knows what this flower is called please let me know in the comments below…
