Portland Tower, when compared to a building like the Beetham Tower / Hilton Hotel, looks very ugly. But even an ugly duckling can look good under the right light and at the right angle. Again I would have liked to move a few dozen yards to the left to make sure that the Portland Tower sign on the right was more clearly visible, but there were the buildings of Manchester’s Chinatown in the way, so I couldn’t. However that does give me another idea for a Portland Tower photograph which I will go and take at the next opportunity, stay tuned!
