Picton is a small town at the top of the South Island. It is most well known as the port for the Inter-island ferry to and from Wellington. In fact, this photograph was taken from the top deck of the ferry, looking down on Picton Harbour. Sadly, I had only spent one night in the town and could see that there was much more in this area that I didn’t get a chance to explore. It was one of the many things on my list to do in New Zealand was to cross between the countries two main islands by boat rather than plane.
