Walking along the River Thames is one of my favourite things to do in London. Especially at dusk. I hadn’t planned to take photos this evening, I didn’t even have my tripod. Finding myself here at twilight I knew I had to get my camera out. This is one of a couple of photographs I took of the London Eye. It took some time to wait for the wheel to stop moving long enough to capture this 8 second exposure.
Tower Bridge and The Shard
I considered called this photograph London old and new. This was my first time back in the English capital since 2008. The city skyline has changed a lot in the last 10 years. In the foreground is the icon Tower Bridge and bulbous shape of City Hall. The tall building is The Shard. Standing at 309.6 metres this is the tallest building in the UK. I took this photograph from The Thames path near St Katherine Docks Marina. To the North East side of the bridge looking west.
Colourful houses of Camden
Just around the corner from Camden Road station on Bonny Street is this iconic row of colourful houses. I’d seen a few inspiring images of unusual things in Camden. So I was looking forward to spending the day there and seeing what we would find. It was a cloudy day but this row of houses still really stood out from the others in the nearby area.
Changing of the guard
The changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace happens 4 times a week over summer. I remember standing in front of the palace as a child watching this 45 minute ceremony. Walking to Westminster after a bike ride in Hyde Park and seeing crowds starting to gather. I thought it’d be worth waiting to see what was about to happen. We stood at the gates of the Wellington Barracks on Spur Road. I wasn’t expected the Queen’s Guard march out of the gates so fast. Because of this there’s a little blur in their feet.
