Snugbury’s Cheshire Wheel

Snugbury's Cheshire Wheel

On the journey back from the Zoo we stopped at a local ice cream farm shop. In one of the fields they have a new sculpture each year made from bales of hay that they would normally feed to the cattle. It was taken whilst I was hanging out of the car window. Snugbury’s Farm sells really nice ice cream, its a little like an English Ben n Jerrys. I think their version of the London Eye made from hay is really cool.

Edinburgh Castle with Merry-go-round

Edinburgh Castle with Merry-go-round

I took the photo on a walk around the castle in the evening. Spent most of the day exploring the major shopping areas of the city but the evening was spent wandering around with the digital camera. As soon as I saw this merry-go-round or carousel in the grounds below Edinburgh Castle I knew it had to be photographed. This image was capture at 8:10 in this evening. I am really loving these long summer evenings.

Aerial view of Venice’s Lido

Aerial view of Venice's Lido

I had obviously read and seen a lot of information about Venice before I went but it wasn’t until flying home that I saw this, the Lido. It is an 11 mile long sandbar which is where a lot of Venetians go for their summer holidays, or at least that was traditionally where they went. Aerial photography has always been something of interest too me even though I rarely get the opportunity to take pictures from a plane.

Della Salute from the Campanile

Della Salute from the Campanile

This photograph was taken from the top of St. Mark’s Campanile, a bell tower in St. Mark’s Square – the main square in Venice, Italy. The weather wasn’t great as there was a lot of sea fog around so this was the best I could do. The photographs from Venice were the first time I used a DSLR camera, the Canon 300D was used which was my dad’s camera at the time.
