Certainly one of the largest beaches I have ever seen is ninety mile beach. Drive south from Cape Reinga I followed the road to the beach. Here huge sand dunes hundreds of feet high dominate the landscape. After speaking to a local I was informed it was not safe to drive along at this point and to take the main highway 1 to the southern end of the beach. The above photograph was taken from there. The beach was some how much more baron than I expected. The black dot in the distance is a large four wheel drive.
