Maori Art at Lake Taupo

On the corner of the Rose Garden in Taupo town centre. Rather than include the whole of this gateway I zoomed into on a section. This figure is holding a Patu made of greenstone. Well in this case maybe of wood that has been coloured green to imply the stone. A Patu is a short club used by Maori warriors. In the background is the massive Lake Taupo. From this viewpoint it looks like the see. The shore on the southern end of the lake is about 29 miles away.
