She was preening herself, stood on a fence on the edge of a small pond in Chester Zoo. Not the most exotic or rarest creature that I photographed on my day at the zoo, but the sunlight lit up the features and really caught my eye. Fortunately she was just far enough away to allow me to really blur out the water behind with a large aperture to give a shallow depth of field. Waiting a few seconds for the head and eye to be in the correct place made sure I had a picture worth waiting for.
