After seeking quality photographs of birds and animals, this month has given me two sharp bird pictures. I prefer the robin but this mallard fills the frame much better. The major problem I don’t like about this image is the white fence behind the bird. This photograph was taken on Monday afternoon’s bike ride to Lymn Dam. After a couple of laps around the dam we stopped by the road for a drink. On the other side of the fence were about half a dozen mallards sat in the grass. They seemed very settle and let people approach closer than I have ever seen. I walked around the fence so they were at my eye level, because the path was about 5 feet lower than where they were cresting. I managed to get closer and closer and waiting for the sun to come out from behind the clouds.
