This is a close-up of a statue of Laocoon and his sons, which is a marble sculpture on display in the Vatican Museum. Above is a close-up of Laocoon’s face showing the amazing detail of this work of art that dates back to the year 25 BC. It is said to show the Trojan priest Lacoon (pictured) and his sons Antiphantes and Thymbraues being strangled by sea serpents.
