La Rambla is an iconic and busy street in central Barcelona, popular with both tourists and locals alike. Obviously coming to this city to photograph of much of it as I could, La Rambla was near the top of my list. However with the angle of the sun and tall buildings on either side of this 1.2 kilometer-long, tree-lined pedestrian mall it was nearly always in shadow. As I result I was forced to do something I hardly ever do in Post Processing of the digital image and resort to HDR or high dynamic range processing. This means I was able to bring out the shadow detail of the pavement, but at the same time keep the blue of the sky. I used the super wide 10mm lens to give an idea of how busy the street was and in the processing tried to keep it as realistic as possible.
