Hutton Roof Crags

Hutton Roof and Newbiggin are areas of Limestone just off the M6 motorway in South Cumbria. I was on my way up to the Lake District. It was the second time I had tried to find this Limestone pavement (the first I failed completely – not a single photograph was taken). So I did more research this time and OS maps in hand set off from Manchester before dawn to get there early. After about an hour of driving around I got my bearings and managed to find an area of limestone. It was very cloudy and overcast, also surprisingly dangerous to be walking around with camera in one hand and tripod in the other as some of the gaps are a few feet deep. I feel the need to return on a clear day as I think the area has much more potential than the above photograph.
