After seeing photographs of these two “twin” churches and then finding them in Rome I knew I had to go back at dusk. I took and published the standard photograph of Santa Maria di Montesanto on the left and Santa Maria dei Miracoli is on the right, but knew I could take it further with some foreground detail. In the middle of this square is a large Egyptian obelisk with four ornate fountains, one at each corner. Using a wide angle lens, getting in close and capturing multiple exposures to combine into a HDR image resulted in the above image.
