Fletcher Bay and the Pinnacles

The tall hill photographed here is called Sugar Loaf, at 220 metres from sea level it would make a nice walk up to the top. The pinnacles, just to the left of this are the very top point of the Coromandel peninsula. Any further north and you come to Great Barrier Island on the other side of the Hauraki Gulf. At this point I had been driving for about two hours along a single track, unsealed road. The road did continue down the beach and a small camp site just off to the right but after that, the only way to drive was back the way you came.
