Dream Sculpture at St Helens

Back in April I took an early morning drive via St. Helen’s to capture Dream. This sculpture of the M62 was designed by the Spanish artist Jaurne Plensa. I was very fortunate with the lighting as an hour later it had clouded over for the day. I believe that early morning is probably the best time to photograph this face as the directional lighting really brings out all the details in the stone. It is 20 metres (66ft) tall and weighs in at 500 tons! According to the artist it has been carved to resemble the head and neck of a young woman with her eyes closed in meditation.
