It has been a very long day today, we set of for Northumberland in the early hours of the morning. I was hoping to get some better photographs of Hadrain’s Wall on drive up there. It was the second time I photographed it and have now found the location I really wish to take a picture of but sadly couldn’t get to it in time today. After seeing the Wall we continued on our journey up North. The county of Northumberland is the area north of Newcastle and south of Scotland on the east coast of England. I’m spending the next week photographing as much of the Northumberland coastal areas as I can. Staying at the fantastic Grey Barns self-catering cottage with 14 other photographers, near the town of Alnwick about 50 miles north of Newcastle. The cottage we are staying in is about 50 metres from the beach so as soon as I had unpacked my equipment I took a quick look down at the sea and saw this Guillemot pictured above. I was very lucky in that it didn’t seem to mind me taking photos of it and I was able to get within about 6 metres of the bird. As you can see the tide was in and at some points the waves swept right over the bird.
