As ornate entrances go these gates are probably the most impressive I have seen in a long time. Chirk Castle is just south of Wrexham in Wales and was founded in 1295 by Roger Mortimer. Sadly we didn’t go and look at the castle because all signs said that it was closed, but as soon as I saw these great white gates I knew there was a photograph to be taken.
