Much as with small children, getting dogs to sit still to have their photographs taken is usually an uphill battle. We recently had the pleasure of my girlfriend’s parents’ dog’s (pictured above) company for a week. His name is Asbo (and yes, it is a long story so best not to ask). Rather than trying to get him to sit still, I took him out for a walk in the woods. When he wandered away from me, I got down on one knee, low to the ground and focused on the direction he would be coming from. With my camera set on a high shutter speed and continuous / focus tracking I called his name and fired the shutter. The above was my best result.
